An “exaggerated” fianchetto is where a Bishop is developed in fianchetto style, but to the “Rook-Three” square rather than the corner square. This means for White: g3 and Bh3 (not Bg2), or b3 and Ba3 (not Bb2). And for Black: b6 and Ba6, or g6 and Bh6. There is a particular line in the Queen’s Indian where an exaggerated fianchetto involving Ba6 is a popular line.
