Tournament 3-1-0 Scoring
The 3-1-0 scoring in a chess tournament is an unusual type of point system. It means that the following points are awarded:
- Win: 3 points
- Draw: 1 point each
- Loss: 0 points
The aim is to discourage draws, especially “grandmaster draws”, because you get a lot lower points for drawing than for a win.
This system is not commonly used. There’s not really much reason to use it in club play, where there are plenty of wins and losses.
