Can Pawns Jump?

Can any pawns jump in chess moves? No, they cannot jump, and they cannot even move backwards! Thankfully they are allowed to turn into Queens at the other edge of the board (pawn promotion).

Pawns only move 1-square for a normal forward move (into an empty square), or 1-square diagonally for a pawn capture (including an en passant move). No jumping is possible for a 1-square move.

Pawns can move 2-squares on their first move. But even this move is not allowed to jump over any piece in the intervening square. The two squares in front of the starting pawn must be empty.
