Semi-Ending Openings

Chess openings with an early Queen exchange lead to a “semi-ending” after the Queens are swapped off. It is a bit like an ending (without Queens), but a bit like a middlegame (so many pieces remaining). Advanced players and masters sometimes like these types of “queenless middlegame” positions against weaker players, because masters are often stronger at endgames.
