The Polish Defence is an uncommon black defence against 1.d4 where Black plays 1 b5. It can transpose into Bakers Defence (St George Defence) after 2.e4 a6, or the Polish Defence can retain independent lines if Black avoids 2..a6. In some lines Black may delay playing a6, or may advance with b4 (similar to the reverse lines in the Orangutan Opening).
