The Pelikan variation of the Sicilian is a move with Black playing “e5” after having both Knights out. It is a highly tactical and trappy opening where Black accepts static pawn weaknesses in return for tactical piece play. It is not very popular in grandmaster play, but is quite successful at the club level.
