Bg5 Attack
The chess opening system called “Bg5 attack” refers to a number of White openings that use Bg5 in the Queen Pawn openings, usually against Nf6 lines.
- Trompowski Attack (1.d4 Nf6, 2.Bg5)
- Trompowski BDG-Like Gambit
- Veresov Attack (1.d4 d5, 2.Nc3 Nf6, 3.Bg5)
- Torre Attack (1.d4 Nf6, 2.Nf3 e6, 3.Bg5)
- Nc3 Attack (1.d4 d5, 2.Nc3 and a later Bg5)
- Hodgson Attack
There are also some Bg5 systems in the King Pawn Openings, such as the Byrne Variation. However, the term “Bg5 attack” usually refers to Queen Pawn lines. See also: London Attack (Bf4 attack).
